We would love you to join us as two of Ireland’s most acclaimed celebrations of the written word partner to announce the recipient of the prestigious DUBLIN Literary Award during ILFDublin. The DUBLIN Literary Award is the world’s most valuable annual prize for a single work of fiction published in English, with the winner receiving €100,000. It is open to novels written in any language and by authors of any nationality, provided the book has been published in English or in an English translation. For many, the unique draw of the award lies in the fact that the shortlisted books are nominated by libraries in major cities across the world, making it a reader’s accolade. It is sponsored solely by Dublin City Council, as is ILFDublin.

The 2022 Award winner will be chosen from a diverse and dynamic international shortlist which includes two novels in translation and a first-time novelist. Stories by French, Irish, Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg (Alderville First Nation, Canadian), New Zealand, and Nigerian authors, read by discerning library patrons all over the world have made it to that shortlist.

This year, the 27th winner of the Dublin Literary Award will be announced by its Patron, Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland on Thursday 19th May, as a central part of the opening programme of International Literature Festival Dublin.

All the nominated novels for the Dublin Literary Award 2022 are available for readers to borrow from public libraries or on digital loan from BorrowBox:

 Remote Sympathy by Catherine Chidgey

At Night All Blood is Black by David Diop, trans. by Anna Moschovakis

Presented by ILFDublin in partnership with the Dublin Literary Award, a Dublin City Council initiative.
