Dublin A Writer’s City – Central Library
This is the 5th talk in a series of talks from Chris Morash based on his recent book, Dublin, A writer’s city focusing on Dublin’s north inner city neighbourhood and its layers of literary history.
From the fashionable homes of the wealthy in the 18th and early nineteenth centuries, through to the tenements of the early twentieth century, to the vibrant place that it is today, the traces of the literary past are everywhere: from the ghost stories of J.S. LeFanu, through O’Casey’s Dublin trilogy, to the rich traces to Joyce’s Ulysses – and more. In this talk, Chris Morash traces the ways in which this part of Dublin has constantly re-imagined itself in ways that do much to define the city as a whole.
