Dublin A Writer’s City – Pearse Street
Chris Morash – Dublin: A Writer’s City
Wednesday 29th March at 6.30pm Pearse Street Library
In the imaginations of Dublin’s writers, the location of the Pearse Street Library sits between two very different Dublins: to the west is the city centre, and the campus of Trinity; go a short distance to the east, however, and you very quickly encounter the Grand Canal Basin, Ringsend, and the smell of the sea. In this talk, we will be facing east, out towards Dublin Bay, looking at the ways in which Dublin’s writers have drawn inspiration from the nearby presence of water, in writers such as James Joyce, Seamus Heaney, and Elizabeth Bowen, as well as more recent writers.
Dublin City Libraries will host a series of talks by Prof. Morash starting at Pearse Street Library on Wednesday 29 March at 6.30pm. All welcome.
