Dublin is a City of Literature where creativity, and especially writing and words in all forms – prose, poetry, playwriting and song writing – are valued and celebrated.
As part of this year’s International Literature Festival Dublin, Dublin will select its 2026 entry for Slamovision at an evening of some of Ireland’s best spoken word as Gaeilge.
First launched in 2019, Slamovision is a spoken word initiative connecting UNESCO Cities of Literature and encouraging cultural participation within participating cities. In a similar style to Eurovision, cities compete through poetry performances, showcasing local talent on an international stage.
The event will be hosted by Cormac Mac Gearailt, , who previously brought the Slamovision title to Dublin, winning the competition in 2024 with the city’s first entry performed as Gaeilge. The evening will also feature a musical performance by Kerry-based bilingual artist Amano.
All performances will be in Irish, with live English translations provided.
The event is presented in association with Dublin City Council, Dublin UNESCO City of Literature and Rising Tide.
