Granada UNESCO City of Literature  in collaboration with the University of Granada, have opened applications for the 2026 International Writers in Residence Programme. 

The programme is open to writers from any country and writing in any language. It aims to support literary creation and international cooperation between writers and Granada's literary community. 

What's Included

  • A 30-night residency in Granada for two writers, from Monday, 2 November to Tuesday, 1 December 2026, inclusive, at the Corrala de Santiago, University of Granada.
  • Round-trip travel expenses from the airport nearest your place of residence
  • full-board accomodation basis at the historic Corrala de Santiago.
  • Opportunities  to engage with Granada’s literary life, through workshops and educational activities.

Where You'll Stay

The Corrala de Santiago is a restored sixteenth-century building located in the historic Realejo district. Owned by the University of Granada, it has also become a venue for cultural activities, including exhibitions, theatre performances, concerts, film screenings and lectures.

Who Can Apply

Applicants should have published at least two individually authored books (including novels, essays, poetry, drama or hybrid literary works) and submit a proposal outlining the project they intend to develop during the residency. Successful applicants will also be expected to participate in public events and activities organised as part of the programme.
