The Linen Hall and Dublin City Council through Dublin UNESCO City of Literature were delighted to host a showcase event on Friday 20th March to mark the culmination of their Island of Many Voices programme, an exciting new initiative aimed at bringing together both established and emerging writers from across the island of Ireland to share their experiences and develop their artistic practice.

The showcase at the Linen Hall in Belfast was hosted by curator and writer-facilitator Fiona O’Rourke. Special guest author Wendy Erskine shared her writing wisdom with the audience and read from her novel ‘The Benefactors’.

The audience enjoyed readings of new work by the twenty participating writers from the programme, offering a selection of poetry, prose, memoir, auto fiction, short story, flash fiction, novel excerpt, monologue and reflection, covering subjects as diverse as botox, motherhood, recriminations, gambling and much more.

The event also included a performance by Belfast musician and singer/songwriter AOIBHA, welcoming participants and audience to Belfast UNESCO City of Music.

Congratulations to the twenty participants on the presentation of their new work. We look forward to hearing much more from you in the future!
