Submissions are open for the fifth issue of Unapologetic, a multidisciplinary, literary, and cultural magazine that responds to the social issues and creative opportunities of contemporary Ireland.

The theme for Issue Five, "Why Our Humanity Matters," asks contributors to create a piece that captures what it means to be human through a national or international lens.

While a series of prompts is provided, contributors are also welcome to respond to the theme in their own way.

Submissions are open across a range of disciplines, including:

  • Poetry
  • Fiction
  • Creative non-fiction
  • Academic essays
  • Visual art
  • Photography
  • Music and audio works

The magazine welcomes both emerging and established creators, and is committed to championing original work. All submissions must be previously unpublished, and the publication has a zero-tolerance policy on the use of AI-generated creative work, emphasising that it wants to hear contributors' own voices. Selected submissions will be peer reviewed by academics, artists and activists. Chosen contributors may be invited to participate in workshops, exhibitions or other working opportunities.

Deadline: 15 July 2026, 9am Irish Standard Time
