
UNESCO Cities of Literature at ILFD

The International Literature Festival Dublin returns from the 15th-24th of May in Merrion Square, with events for readers of all ages and interests. This year's programme features exciting appearances from authors connected to two UNESCO cities of literature, Seattle and Edinburgh.
All in the Mind: Your Brilliant Brain
Gill Arbuthnott
Gill Arbuthnott is from Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a former teacher and has written picture books, children’s novels, teen novels and children’s science books. She believes that science is fascinating and that books about science should be exciting to read.
Inspired by her children's Science book All in the Mind: A Guide to Your Brilliant Brain! Gill will host an exciting and interactive event featuring fun experiments that will get your brain fizzing!

Noon Fix: Alternative forms in queer literature

Franky Cannon is a writer, editor, educator, and artist. She is based in Edinburgh, Scotland but also has a connection to Iowa, USA through her studies at the University of Iowa.
In this collaboration with PhotoIreland, Franky highlights innovative and experimental approaches to queer storytelling, bringing together literature, visual culture, and archival work to expand how stories can be told.

Frankie will also be launching her new book Vernal Thaw: A Novel of Love at a Slant with a separate event at The Library Project. Vernal Thaw traces the entangling and unraveling of a queer relationship over the course of a year, exploring love and turmoil in Vermont.

Head East of Edam for Mice & Mummies
Sarah McIntyre & Philip Reeve
Sarah McIntyre is an award-winning author and illustrator who was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She is the co-creator of the Adventuremice series with Philip Reeve. Together they will present a highly interactive and funny performance, featuring plenty of audience participation.
The event celebrates the latest instalment in the series, Of Mice and Mummies.
