Join us for a special evening of conversation and performance in the Royal Irish Academy of Music as we celebrate the One Dublin One Book choice for 2026, Christine Falls.

Acclaimed author John Banville will be in conversation with author Belinda McKeon, delving into his first crime novel twenty years after its publication. Introducing us to maverick pathologist Quirke, and the forces of authority prevalent in 1950s Dublin and beyond, Christine Falls is a gripping novel of power, corruption, shame, buried secrets, and one man’s search for the truth.

The evening will feature a live performance from the Michael Buckley Jazz Quintet with Michael Buckley (saxophone), Margot Daly (vocals), Scott Flanagan (piano), Diarmuid Lally (bass) and Brendan Doherty (drums), along with dramatic readings from Christine Falls by actors Julie Coleman and Billy Lyons.

Filming and photography will take place at this event for promotional use by Dublin City Libraries and the One Dublin One Book programme. Photographs may be used as publicity material by Dublin City Libraries and Dublin UNESCO City of Literature, to include social media, print media and digital media and/or in newsletters, programmes, on radio and TV, on websites or for public display.
