UCD Lifelong Learning Course - Reading Dublin

This course with Garrett Fagan is designed to tie in with events in the One Dublin One Book choice for 2026, John Banville's Christine Falls. We will read Christine Falls, a crime thriller set in 1950s Dublin featuring Banville's pathologist protagonist Quirke. The discovery of a young woman's body leads to a dark conspiracy within Dublin's powerful elite. We will also look at a variety of other material about Ireland in the period, other Dublin crime writing, Banville's wider writing, and consider why Dublin makes such a good setting for crime writing.
